House of the Future?

In December's Atlantic Monthly, P. J. O'Rourke observes the latest incarnation of Disneyland's House of the Future and finds it both unimaginative and beige. His column, Future Schlock, identifies the cultural vacuum that Steve Bertasso in Green Building Decoder calls to fill by responding to "a new opportunity to build homes better suited to newer technologies. Evolving technologies will bring a new wave of both new construction and remodel work to encourage growth and alternative energy sources."

Both O'Rourke and Bertasso make the same point: our progress is impeded not by lack of imagination, but by lack of action.
